We frequently install staircases to raise our profile; so if this is what you need, please call our Birmingham office.
Above, the staircase in this image is great for keeping the ground floor space free but allows you to go to two different locations. The split in the middle acts both functionally and as set piece. By using the existing brick wall, this allowed to save even more space and look as if it was always there. Blending a metal frame with open steps, it only adds the overall aesthetic.

Below, the openness of this staircase allows the natural light to illuminate the area. The staircase is purely built to last and uses concrete to deal with the potentially high footfall.

Why is it important to have proper staircases?
The staircase is without doubt one of the most important aspects of a building. Some are purely functional; others are works of art. With regards to staircases in industrial settings, they need to be able to take a lot of foot traffic, and withstand harsh conditions. Staircases come in several shapes and sizes, but they all have to be safe and secure. If you are using a ladder to access the upper areas of a building, this could be a health and safety risk, predominantly due to slip and fall hazards. A permanent staircase will be solid and secure, eliminating the risk of causing serious harm to anyone who uses it.
What materials can be used?
Concrete
One of the most versatile materials to make a staircase with, concrete is poured into the desired shape you require. You can build any sort of style, such as spiral staircases. The big plus point is how durable concrete is and how long it will last. The downside is that it isn’t the most beautiful material to look at.
Metal
Metal staircases are modern, easy to clean, and durable. They can be made from steel or aluminium and are one of the best choices for industrial staircases. Aluminium creates an outer layer that protects itself from rust.
Stone
Depending on the feel you want, stone is also a popular choice in staircase construction. It is more expensive and really used in domestic settings, but can be used in grand open rooms.
Wood
Pine
The most common timber used in the manufacturing of staircases, pine is easy to work with and usually the most inexpensive wood you can use for staircases. It also can be treated or painted to your desired effect.
Walnut
For a darker finish, walnut is a hardwood that is naturally a deep brown. It is more unique looking than pine, but can be hard to find longer planks of walnut for wider staircases.
Oak
The premium wood material. Oak is a solid hardwood that has few knots that cause concerns in construction. The grain is popular with many people in the UK but it is also easy to varnish or stain.
