Wharfingers Cottage is an old cottage on the side of the canal at the wharf in Walsall. It had been stripped of all of its internal walls and floors, and renovated to be sold as a project. So, basically we had a shell of a building to convert into a restaurant.
This involved removing a mezzanine floor and staircase that had been added for future use, but was not required by the current owners. Then also to create a shop front opening, which is now the main front of the restaurant which contains a set of 6 bi-fold doors. This gave a light airy feeling to the front of the restaurant.
We also had to demolish a chimney and various window openings, we then converted the inside by creating a kitchen using concrete block walls, installing drainage, electrics and a steel staircase to the area on top of the kitchen which is now offices and WCs.
Once we had finished the major building work the owner completed the bar and other internal features including the kitchen. The restaurant is now up and running and is very successful.
